On February 7, Park Pals were honored for their volunteer work by the City Council. The Council praised our group for identifying a community need and the actions we have taken to help maintain and improve the park.

Park Clean Up Work Party

Park Pals had a work party on Saturday, February 11, at French Lake Park. The Mirror wrote an article about Park Pals that mentioned the work party, but inadvertently stated that it would be held on Sunday as well. Volunteers cleaned up a lot of the tree branches and debris on Saturday. The Sunday folks did a wonderful job of completing the work.

Thank you to all those who worked at this event! The park really looks nice!

Don’t forget to take pictures of your canine pals throughout 2012! One of those photos could be featured in the 2013 Park Pals calendar. Photos capturing the tone of a specific holiday are more likely to be chosen for the month in which the holiday falls. Please be aware that photos for the calendar cannot include humans so a picture featuring Santa would not be considered.

Howl-O-Ween celebration

The Howl-O-Ween party was greatly enjoyed by all who attended. The main event was the costume contest where prizes were awarded. A special delight was Dorothy and the Wicked Witch!

Good news!!!

We now have the funds for the water fountain! Thanks to all of you for your support in reaching our financial goal. Recently, we received a check for $5000 from an anonymous donor that enabled us to surpass our target goal.

As you may know, the park is jointly owned by the City of Federal Way and Lakehaven Water Utility District. Park Pals is working with both organizations on the water project. When the City of Federal Way Parks Department places this project on its work schedule and completes the installation, we will have an operational fountain!

Celebrate your dog, companion, and/or your loved one!! Purchase a tribute brick! We are selling engraved bricks to be installed at French Lake Park beside the entrance gates. The bricks are only $50.00!

Buy a tribute brick!

Have your dog’s name, your name, or special sentiments engraved on a 4″ x 8″ x 2 1/4″ brick. All messages will be spelled out in CAPITALS and can contain up to 3 lines with a maximum of 17 characters (including spaces) per line. YOUR message will be sand-blasted into a brick and will remain in the park for many years to come!

Just print the order form, fill it out, and mail it to the address on the form with a check or money order payable to Park Pals. The purchase may be tax deductible; check with your tax accountant. Bricks are ordered in units; your order will be placed as soon as we have a minimum order size (7 bricks). We will contact you when your brick has been installed. Brick Order Form
