Tribute bricks to be installed soon!

Park Pals apologizes for the long delay in getting the previously ordered tribute bricks installed. We had ordered bricks and were awaiting better weather before installing them. Unfortunately, the quality of those engraved bricks was inconsistent and some of them deteriorated. We decided to get a better grade of brick and find a different source for the engraving. A sample of the workmanship of the new company is shown in the article “Buy a Tribute Brick”.

For those who purchased these bricks, we thank you. Proceeds from sales were used toward the purchase of the newly installed doggie fountain. Your new bricks have been ordered and we hope to have them installed by the park entry gates by the end of June.

For all those who have not yet ordered a tribute brick, we urge you to print out the new order form and send it in. The bricks should be a beautiful and lasting tribute to your beloved doggie companions! All proceeds from new brick orders will go toward our next project to benefit French Lake Park and its patrons.

Celebrate your dog, companion, and/or your loved one!! For $50, you can buy a brick that will be installed near the fenced entry at French Lake Park. The brick will be inscribed with a “message” or sentiment of your choosing.

The bricks are smooth Inca bricks, measuring 4”X 8”X 1½”. All messages will be engraved in CAPITAL letters and can contain up to 3 lines, with a maximum of 15 characters (including spaces) per line. An example of an engraved brick is shown below.

You can order a brick, by printing the order form below. Fill in the required information, enclose the completed form, a $50 check or mail order payable to PARK PALS, and mail to the address listed on the form. The purchase may be tax deductible; check with your tax accountant!

Proceeds from brick sales are used to benefit French Lake Off-Leash Dog Park.

Fountain dedication

The water fountain was dedicated on April 4. Mayor Skip Priest and Federal Way City Councilwoman Jeanne Burbidge joined Park Pals board members and their dogs for the dedication.

French Lake Park now has a drinking fountain! The installation has been completed and the fountain is operating. Thunder gave his whole hearted approval for the new fountain.

Thanks to all you folks who donated time, money, and energy to provide drinking water for our canine pals!!!

Park Pals honored by City Council

On February 7, Park Pals were honored for their volunteer work by the City Council. The Council praised our group for identifying a community need and the actions we have taken to help maintain and improve the park.

Don’t forget to take pictures of your canine pals throughout 2012! One of those photos could be featured in the 2013 Park Pals calendar. Photos capturing the tone of a specific holiday are more likely to be chosen for the month in which the holiday falls. Please be aware that photos for the calendar cannot include humans so a picture featuring Santa would not be considered.
